When the icemaker shut off arm is high enought the ice maker will shut off and no more ice will be made until the level of the ice in the bin drops. Also the ice maker can be turned off by lifting the arm all the way to the top until in a locked position.
This is part of the ice door chute and acts as a barrier (insulator) when the chute is not being used. It helps keep the ice cold once the ice cubes are conveyed from the container to a downwardly facing discharge opening.
This part limits the door opening to prevent any damage.
