These Whirlpool agitator directional cogs come four to a package. They are commonly referred to as dog ears, and are usually used with direct drive washing machines. These cogs are white and beige in color, made from rubber and are approximately 1 inches in length.

Expert Repair Guide

  1. To replace the agitator directional cogs, remove power from the washer.
  2. If your washer has a fabric softener dispenser, it should just pop off by apply pressure upwards.
  3. Below the cap is a seal assembly, needle nose pliers maybe require to help you remove this, it should also just be pulled upward.
  4. You’ll now have access to the nut that needs to be removed, so you can pull the barrel of the agitator out of the washer.
  5. Once you remove the barrel, simply turn it upside down carefully and the cam and cog assembly will fall out.
  6. Remove the clip that holds the cogs in place then remove all the cogs and replace them with the new cogs.
  7. Reinstall the clip and place the assembly back in the agitator barrel.
  8. Place the barrel back in the washer, reinstall the nut and seal.
  9. Pop the fabric softener cup back in place, by applying firm pressure and then restore power to the washer.
