The door gasket provides an air tight seal, between the door and the freezer, to keep warm air from entering. If your freezer is too warm, frost builds up, or the gasket is torn you may need to replace the door gasket because the freezer will need to work harder in order to cool down. This white door gasket is made of rubber and is a genuine OEM part.

Fit well if done correctly

The gasket has plenty of magnetic power to make a good seal. Those that complain about the gasket being difficult to install or that it does not seal well have not installed it correctly. It is rubber and you have to work with it as if it is rubber. Use a hair dryer during installation to make the gasket more pliable. The heat makes it softer. I installed the gasket with the freezer door off the unit. When it was time to reattach the door, the gasket did not make an airtight seal. There were gaps. The reason is the lack of pliability of the rubber. All I had to do was run the hairdryer over the spots where the gasket was not sealing. It took some time (it does not happen instantaneously). But I kept patiently working over each spot and pulling on the gasket until it finally connected securely all the way around the door. Once the seal was secure, I plugged in the freezer -- no more frost issues. You can purchase this gasket with confidence that it will make a nice, tight seal. You just need to be patient with the installation.

It took my husband an hour instead of the 30 minutes suggested. If you did it all the time it might be easier. There is some laying on the floor required to get the bottom part done. The freezer now seals tightly & no more frost.
