Shame they are so expensive, but I noticed both door gaskets on my 8 yr old French door refrigerator need replacing. Just whip the old ones off and put the new ones on.....five minutes, done.
Was so simple. Tried to order from GE direct but when part didn’t do up after three weeks I ordered from Easy. Receive in two days. Application was so easy should have ordered months ago. Only issue was I have a French Door which means Two doors. Had I know it was just one Hadley I would have ordered two. Picture looked like two gaskets and lord knows for the price it should come with Two. Obviously I didn’t know what I was getting into but it all worked out. Just washed the other gasket and replaced the one that was ripped. Works great!!
This was our second gasket to split and, although the left door required removing the magnetic strip, it was still simple to replace.
After disappointment with a defective fit of the gasket from 3 other GE vendors, I ordered from Easy Appliance Parts hoping to receive a part from a different batch. Although, the gasket required extra manipulation to achieve a seal on the hinge side of the door, I eventually was able to make it fit properly.
We’ve had our refrigerator for 12 years and have had to replace these twice. They should have been replaced more often than we did but are quite expensive. They don’t last.
The gasket was received twisted like a pretzel in a crushed box that contained absolutely nothing else. There wasn't any install instructions or packing material. Fortunately I checked U-Tube and learned that the gasket should be allowed to acclimate to room temperature for at least a day to straighten itself out. Used hair dryer to assist in straightening. The entire hinge side of door was wide open, no seal at all. I used .190 diameter screen spline to spread gasket to get this side to seal. Screen spline still in gasket and it seems to be working.
The part is only part of the design problem. Never will buy a GE appliance again.
