This Whirlpool thermal fuse attaches to the blower wheel housing of your clothes dryer. It is a onetime use part and cannot be re-set. It must be replaced when continuity between the pins is no longer present. This part is white in color, made from metal and is approximately 2 inches in length. It has an electrical terminal size is 3/16".

Expert Repair Guide

  1. To replace the thermal fuse, first remove power from the dryer.
  2. Next remove the vent from the dryer, as the dryer will need to be moved away from the wall for this repair.
  3. Once you’ve pulled the dryer away from the wall, remove all the screws holding the back panel on.
  4. Then remove the panel and set it aside.
  5. The thermal fuse is located near the bottom on the blower housing.
  6. Once located, remove the two terminals attached to the fuse, being careful not to damage the wires and noting their placement.
  7. Then remove the screw securing the fuse, and get rid of the old one.
  8. Once the fuse has remove, install the new fuse and replace the screw and wires in the same order they were removed.
  9. Replace the back panel and reconnect the duct work.
  10. Restore power to the dryer.
